Towards Legal and Institutional Empowerment of Women Waste Collectors in Tunisia

This strategic note explores the legal and institutional pathways for the economic and social empowerment of women waste collectors in Tunisia. It argues that the core challenge goes beyond mere formalization, requiring a balanced approach that combines legal recognition, social protection, and the preservation of existing livelihoods of vulnerable groups. It proposes two complementary models: the auto-entrepreneur status and the creation of ecological cooperatives, supported by a set of operational recommendations aimed at ensuring their effective and sustainable implementation.
